Welcome to 1984

George Orwell was not a prophet, and his novel, 1984, was not intended to be a prophecy of our future. Despite the fact that the novel was set in Orwell’s future, 1984 was a warning of what could happen if history repeats itself. Orwell was an avowed Socialist and admirer of Soviet Russia until a journalist by the name of Gareth Jones broke the story of the Holodomor – the Ukrainian famine ordered by Joseph Stalin that killed up to ten million people. At that point, Orwell realized the horror wrought by Communism and Collectivism.

1984 was published in 1949, 35 years before the novel’s title and 74 years before today. Slowly, but surely, Orwell’s warning has been ignored. Increasingly so, we are living in his version of dystopia. The evidence mounts higher and higher each day.

It’s a beautiful thing, the destruction of words… Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end, we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it… The whole climate of thought will be different. In fact, there will be no thought, as we understand it now. Orthodoxy means not thinking – not needing to think. Orthodoxy is unconsciousness.

I chose this topic today after reading a story about how the Cambridge Dictionary has decided to change their definition of the word “woman.” Their new definition is: “An adult who lives and identifies as female, though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth.”

No part of this definition makes a shred of logical sense, which is why it is such a perfect example of the Newspeak that has crept into our daily lives. (And it is hardly the only example.) First of all, “woman” and “female” are practically synonyms. You can’t use one to describe the other. That’s against the dictionary rules.

Second: “may have been said?” No, it was, in fact, said, because we all know what a female is. Humanity has been correctly identifying females for thousands of years. Even our cousins in the animal world are somehow able to discern between males and females. Never before has this been in question. Setting aside the natural instinct we all have, the science completely supports that instinct. Long before we knew what a chromosome was, males carried XY chromosomes and females carried XX.

Are we really supposed to pretend otherwise? Are we supposed to believe that somehow all of humankind got it all wrong for thousands of years? Of course not. The word “woman” still means what it has meant for all that time. Big Brother, however, wants us to destroy that definition and adopt theirs. Why? Raw power. Those who control the language control the culture. Those who control the culture control the people.

2+2=5.

In 1984, Winston is sent to the “Ministry of Love” to un-learn everything he has ever learned, and to bend his mind to conform with the Party. Ultimately, his torturers succeed in convincing Winston that two plus two equals five. (Oh, sorry – spoiler alert!) The ultimate goal of the Party is to convince people to accept their version of facts and reality. That way, they can be controlled in every way imaginable.

I can’t help but notice the similarities between the Party’s efforts and the efforts of the modern-day left with regard to gender. Way back in the good old days of, say, 2011, the goal of the left was to merely promote the social acceptance of transgender people. Somewhere along the way, that effort morphed from acceptance to forceful mind control.

To the left, it is no longer sufficient enough to merely accept that trans people have every right to be trans. Today, the left insists that you believe – or, at minimum, that you state the belief – that a woman actually is a man or vice versa. Even though we all know that isn’t true, you are required to state the opposite of truth or be accused of “hate speech.” (Trust me, I know. I was banned for life from Twitter for such “hate speech.”)

He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past.

The main protagonist in 1984, Winston, spends the entirety of his working hours rewriting the past and shoving the actual truth of the past down a tube. This process is mimicked today by those on the left who continually attempt to rewrite history to make their ideology appear heroic and to make their opposing ideology look villainous. The entire point of the 1619 Project was to frame American history through the lens of racism and slavery. Howard Zinn’s People’s History of the United States is an often hilarious example of this type of historical revision. Critical Race Theory has indoctrinated an entire generation (or two) to believe historical “facts” that simply aren’t true.

Every record has been destroyed or falsified. Every book rewritten. Every picture has been repainted. Every statue and street building has been renamed. Every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day, and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.

Sound familiar?

The left has used racism as their excuse for doing all of the above. Streets have been renamed. Statues have been toppled. The historic racism of the Democratic Party has been whitewashed. Accusations of racism have become the modern-day equivalent of accusing a woman of being a witch. All in the name of “fighting racism.”

If we look back at history, any time there have been murderous tyrannical dictators killing and oppressing a large number of people, they have each done so by dividing the people into two categories and blaming one of those two groups for all of society’s problems. Hitler divided the Jews from the non-Jews. Lenin and Stalin divided the working class from the wealthy. Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, Castro, and every other Communist dictator used the same type of tactic, which itself derives from Marxism.

American Marxists were unable to divide people based on wealth or religion. Capitalism allows anyone the opportunity to be wealthy in America. Our First Amendment protects our religious beliefs.

It’s somewhat ironic that the party that embraced slavery and Jim Crow is the same party that now pushes for “anti-racism.” Of course, it’s nothing more than a ploy to divide people. Democrats are still as racist as they ever were. They have learned, however, that they can use racism as a very effective tool to divide people, erase history, and recreate our culture in their own image.

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.

This was the slogan of Big Brother, and it may as well be the slogan of the Biden administration. Team Biden would have us believe that the proxy war they are fighting in Ukraine, and the escalating threat of nuclear war, is somehow preferable to peace. When they aren’t advocating for actual war, they are creating fantasy “wars” on climate change, racism, attacks on democracy, insurrectionists, etc. Their goal is to keep their followers in a perpetual state of fear and outrage. Those people are easier to control than others.

Team Biden prefers government control over our personal lives more so than individual freedom, dictating to us what type of vehicles to drive, what type of jobs we can have, how much we can be paid for those jobs, what schools our children can attend, what they can be taught, etc. The left’s reaction to the pandemic revealed their deep disdain for freedom. I’ll never forget those who mocked “muh freedoms” when lockdowns and shutdowns were ordered.

The left thrives on the ignorance of their followers, who are not shy about loudly demonstrating their ignorance at every opportunity. Information is the enemy of ignorance, which is why the left is so desperate to control the flow of information. They are entirely uninterested in free speech. They are only concerned with controlling speech, and ensuring that the speech they want people to hear is the only speech they ever hear.

The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Pure power.

This excerpt from 1984 perfectly explains every action taken by this Biden administration. An administration that actually cared about the people, and was interested in the good of others, would never do what this administration has done.

Economic pain is real pain, felt by real people who live paycheck-to-paycheck and struggle to pay their rent and put food on their table. Biden’s economic and energy policies have destroyed many people’s lives – and it was done purposely. Why? Because forcing people to rely on government aid gives the government more power. Power is all this administration cares about.

Likewise, Biden’s seemingly-insane border policies are entirely intentional. There is no other explanation for it. Millions of illegals – from all over the world – crossed our southern border last year. We saw 1,000 illegals cross the border just the other day. Thousands more are standing by at the border, right now, waiting for Title 42 to expire.

Who are these people? Mostly, almost entirely, they are poor and desperate people who are struggling to survive. They paid their life’s savings to a coyote to get them across that border. Those coyotes are a part of a major crime syndicate that includes drug lords, murderers, and rapists. They are the worst of humanity. As you might expect, many of the people paying those coyotes suffered physical and mental harm at the hands of those criminals.

The Biden administration is doing these people no favors. They are also causing massive harm to the border towns and other regions where these illegals are ultimately migrating. Schools, hospitals, state welfare budgets, and housing units cannot keep pace with the massive influx of illegals streaming into our country.

Any administration that actually cared about people would not have done any of this. So why are they doing it? Pure power. Their goal – which they have not even attempted to hide – is to make all of those illegal immigrants American citizens as quickly as possible. This will virtually ensure that the Democratic Party will remain in power for generations to come.

This thirst for raw power is hardly limited to the Biden administration. It also applies to each and every dictatorial, power-mad, tyrant who forced school closures, business closures, quarantines, masks, and vaccines on people throughout 2020 and 2021, for no reason other than a raw display of power.

Just this week, New York City “leaders” are strongly recommending that people mask-up indoors – and even outside! For over a century, the scientific consensus was that masks – particularly paper and cloth masks – do not prevent the spread of airborne viruses. We learned this way back in 1918. Nothing about the science has changed since then, and yet our “Expert Class” recommended masking, and our “Ruling Class” weaponized their advice by forcing masks on all of us. They’re still doing it to this day.

He certainly is. He’s watching your Twitter and Facebook feeds. He’s watching your bank statements. He’s watching your browser history. Orwell could not have dreamed of all the ways in which Big Brother is watching us all in 2022.
