Just when you think the Biden administration couldn’t possibly become any creepier or more Orwellian, they went ahead and created an actual Ministry of Truth, ripped straight from the pages of 1984. They even came up with a more Orwellian name than Ministry of Truth: the “Disinformation Governance Board.” Making it even creepier and more dystopian, this new “governance board” is part of the Department of Homeland Security. You know, the folks who are supposed to protect us from terrorist threats on American soil?
As if all of that weren’t alarming enough, the Biden administration appointed a woman named Nina Jankowicz to head this brand-new agency. If you don’t know who she is, I envy you. Up until a few days ago, I had never heard of her, either. Since her appointment, I have learned more than I ever wanted to know.
Let’s say you were a Hollywood casting director, charged with finding the perfect actress to play the role of a high school hallway monitor. This character is described as someone who is the epitome of the teacher’s pet: a perfect grade “A” student across the board, who kisses up to every teacher to get better grades. She is exceedingly pretentious, very impressed with herself, condescending, obnoxious, and constantly seeking attention. She acted in every school play, and did everything she could (morally or otherwise) to ensure her starring role in each and every one. She has never had a boyfriend (because who on earth would put up with all of that?), nor does she have any friends.
Folks, let me introduce our new Minister of Truth, the former apprentice to Dolores Umbridge, Ms. Nina Jankowicz (she/her.)
Here are a few career “highlights” from Ms. Jankowicz to date:
She has performed in multiple TikTok music videos, including one in which she crooned about “disinformation,” set to the tune of Mary Poppins’ “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”
Purported to be an “expert” on Russian disinformation (and she even wrote a book about it!), she famously asserted, for months, that the Hunter Biden laptop story was “Russian disinformation.”
She was once in a band called the “Moaning Myrtles,” which was…and you’re going to think I’m joking, but I’m not…a Harry Potter “Wizard Rock” tribute band. They even dedicated one of their tunes to Elizabeth Warren, turning her most famous catch phrases into lyrics.
She once lamented on social media that social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook are confusing “more speech” with “free speech.” “Technology,” she wrote, “is not an unadulterated societal good that sprinkles people with First Amendment fairy dust at each login.” (Only some speech is “good,” you see, and Nina is just the right person to make that determination.)
During the “Summer of Love” protests in 2020, she tweeted her dismay over Trump’s statement that he would “put out that fire” in Portland, labeling it “authoritarianism.” (Because allowing fires to continue raging out of control is good for democracy. Or something.)
She believes that “election meddling” was a “significant contributing factor” as to why Trump won the 2016 election.
She argued that congress should create new laws to stop women from being mocked online, and pushed for government and Big Tech to work together to stop “online misogyny.”
She has called “gender misinformation” a “national security concern” requiring government censorship.
Believe it or not, she reached out to Christopher Steele, author of the infamous and thoroughly-discredited Steele Dossier, for advice on how to deal with disinformation.
It is difficult to imagine a worse person filling this position; however, the most egregious part about all of this is that the position exists in the first place. Why do we need a “Disinformation Governance Board?” Who gets to decide what is or isn’t “disinformation?” What actions will be taken as a result of these determinations? What the hell does any of this have to do with national security and/or domestic terrorism? Does this mean that anyone who states “disinformation” (according to the government) will be treated as a terrorist?
Of all the actions the Biden team has taken to date, this is by far the most disturbing. I say this far too often, but just imagine if Trump had done this instead. The media would go full-blown, DEFCON-1, apocalyptic! Their hair would literally burst into spontaneous flames! They would be running around in circles in an attemp to put out the flames. In other words, it would have been just another day in the life of the media during the Trump administration, but for once, their behavior would have been justified!
What a destructive precedent this sets. Whenever any government throughout history has stifled free speech and assumed full control all information, it has not ended well. The good news is that the next president can reverse all of this with one swoop of his pen. The bad news is that we still have two more years until that can happen.
It is no coincidence that the term “disinformation” seemed to appear out of thin air at the beginning of the 2020 election cycle. It is also no coincidence that the “disinformation” the government and media claims has spread since that time has all been damaging to the Democratic Party. For example:
The validity of Hunter Biden’s laptops and all of the damning information about Joe Biden those laptops contain.
The origin of the Wuhan virus that brought the world to its knees.
The validity of Trump’s claim that his campaign had been “wiretapped.”
The revelation that the entire “Russian collusion” narrative that consumed Trump’s first two years in office was an elaborate hoax orchestrated by the Hillary Clinton campaign, the Obama administration, the FBI, and the mainstream media.
The absence of scientific evidence to support masking, lockdowns, school closures, and every other “preventative” measure taken in 2020 and 2021.
The teaching of CRT, sexuality, and gender confusion in our K-12 schools.
Each and every one of the above stories was deemed by the media and our government to be “disinformation” at one point. Each and every one of these stories has since proven to be 100-percent true. This tells us that this effort to protect Americans from “disinformation” is, without question, an effort to prevent Americans from news and opinions that are harmful to the Democratic Party and their agenda.
This is the ultimate example of the wolf guarding the hen house, or the mobster “protecting” local businesses. “Disinformation” is not a national security threat now or ever, and yet the Biden administration is using this as the excuse to censor opinions they deem to be politically-inconvenient.
Given the timing of this announcement, are we seriously supposed to believe this isn’t the administration’s response to Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter? What, exactly, are they so afraid of? Were Twitter and Facebook threats to our “democracy” before they began heavily-censoring their users in recent years? I seem to recall both platforms were much more enjoyable back then. Am I wrong? Did I miss something?
I had to share this to FB. Wonder how many of my friends will be sure to denounce the statements that the Russian collusion was disinformation, etc. m
