Let's Talk About January 6th. Again.
As expected, the media has spent the entire day treating the riot of January 6th, 2021, as if it were the end of civilization as we knew it. And, as expected, Grandpa Simpson and Kackling Kamala made a rare appearance on live TV this morning to mark this solemn occasion with predictably divisive nonsense and more grade school taunting toward the former president. Kamala even repeated the sickening analogy of Leftists everywhere by comparing that date to 9/11.
All of this was predictable and expected. Leftists will do anything to distract the nation from what is happening in this country today, and Biden and Kamala, more than anyone, have plenty of motivation to dwell on the past. Likewise, the Leftists in the media enjoy nothing more than evoking January 6th as “proof” that Republicans and Trump supporters are violent thugs who hate democracy and America.
STORY TIME WITH GRANDPA JOE
“You can’t love your country only when you win,” Whispering Joe scolded us this morning. Of course, the irony of that statement is that Leftists only seem to love their country when their guy is in charge. This year’s annual Gallup poll found that 64% of Republicans are “extremely proud” of their country despite the fact that it’s run by a Democrat. In comparison, only 31% of Democrats are equally proud. In the two previous years, when Trump was in charge, only 22-24% of Dems expressed extreme pride in their country, while Republican pride ranged between 67-76%.
“You can’t obey the law only when it’s convenient,” Beijing Biden continued. That is rich coming from the head of the Biden crime family syndicate. It is also very amusing when you consider all of the laws broken by Democrat demonstrators over the past years, and the “Defund the Police” movement promoted by Democrat “leaders” that has left so much lawlessness and violence in its wake. Democrats don’t seem to obey the laws whether they are inconvenient or not!
“You can’t be patriotic when you embrace and enable lies,” said our Liar in Chief.
Trump reacted to these speeches in a predictable and hilarious way:
Biden is working hard to try and deflect the incompetent job he is doing, and has done, on the horrible Afghanistan withdrawal (surrender), the borders, COVID, inflation, loss of energy independence, and much more. Everything he touches turns to failure. That’s what you get when you have a rigged election.
Of course, every word of that is true, but the Leftist media collapsed onto their fainting couches over that last sentence. “Rigged election?” How can he repeat such blasphemous lies about the “most secure election in history?!” When a “well-funded cabal of powerful people” conspire to “save the election” by privately-funding election operations, organizing an “army” of “election workers” to canvas the areas where Biden voters are most likely to live, counting illegally-cast votes, bending and breaking election laws, and censoring information detrimental to their candidate, what more accurate word is there to describe these activities than “rigged?”
TDS IS REAL
Trump Derangement Syndrome isn’t merely limited to the Left. Plenty of folks on the Right lost their minds when Trump became president. Among them, National Review’s Kevin D. Williamson seems particularly disconnected from reality. In his article today, he repeats many of the same ridiculous and easily-debunked claims made by his fellow Leftists. He claims the violence on 1/6 was not limited to a “few rowdy elements,” despite the fact that less than 15% of all the charges filed from that day involve violence of any kind.
He claims that Trump “instructed a mob of his supporters to march on the Capitol” despite all of the evidence we now have showing that the march had been planned for weeks. The organizers of those marches even secured permits from the Capitol Police to do so!
The most delusional claim he makes is that the spontaneous riot that resulted from the march was “part of a failed coup d’etat.” Let’s do a fun little mental exercise, shall we? Let’s try to imagine a scenario in which Donald J. Trump actually wanted to overthrow the United States government on January 6th, and organized an actual coup d’etat to seize the presidency. What would that actually look like?
We know that Trump tried to stop the certification of the electoral votes on that day (despite the pointlessness of doing so.) We know that he pressured Mike Pence to delay counting the electoral votes from the states where there were legitimate questions over the results of the election. We know that his legal team was in the process of challenging those results in several states. From a legal standpoint, he was doing everything in his power to contest the election.
Given all of that, what possible benefit would come from organizing a mob of unarmed people, led by Buffalo Man, to infiltrate the Capitol? Wouldn’t a real coup d’etat require weapons of some sort? Wouldn’t it require some planning or some semblance of organization? What purpose did the riot serve President Trump? What did he gain by it? What would he have possibly gained from it?
The answers to those questions are self-evident, of course. It seems quite obvious to everyone except the Trump-Deranged that the riot was not organized by Trump or anyone else, and that it served no purpose other than to allow thousands of people to let off some steam.
WHAT IF DEMS HAD DONE IT?
The most thought-provoking opinion of the day comes from Karl Rove, who wrote an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal. In it, he asks:
What if the other side had done it? What if in early January 2017, Democrats similarly attired and armed had stormed the Capitol and attempted to keep Congress from receiving the Electoral College results for the 2016 presidential election?
What if Democrats claimed that Donald Trump’s razor-thin victories in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin resulted from extensive voter fraud and should be rejected, despite having failed to establish in a single court that extensive fraud had actually occurred?
Although his questions are supposed to be rhetorical, we don’t need to imagine what would have happened under those circumstances because we all experienced what actually happened over the four years in which Trump served as president. We all saw the way Democrats tried to oust Trump from office via the 25th Amendment and every other possible means before he even took office. We saw how they smeared his reputation by calling him a Russian spy. We saw how they impeached him for the most innocuous reasons possible. We saw how they called him an illegitimate president for four years and claimed that he won the 2016 election only because of Russian meddling.
We also saw how Democrats formed violent mobs that resulted in the murders of over two dozen people. We saw how they attacked federal buildings, including the White House. We saw how they took over entire city blocks and claimed them as their own “occupied zones.” We saw how they terrorized the citizens of several cities for months on end.
We also know, from that helpful Time article, that Democrats were highly-organized prior to the 2020 election, and planned to stage several protests throughout the country if all of their rigging wasn’t enough to secure a Biden victory. Flash mobs were on high alert on Election Night, prepared to take to the streets at a moment’s notice.
“We wanted to be mindful of when was the right time to call for moving masses of people into the streets,” Peoples says. As much as they were eager to mount a show of strength, mobilizing immediately could backfire and put people at risk. Protests that devolved into violent clashes would give Trump a pretext to send in federal agents or troops as he had over the summer. And rather than elevate Trump’s complaints by continuing to fight him, the alliance wanted to send the message that the people had spoken.
So the word went out: stand down. Protect the Results announced that it would “not be activating the entire national mobilization network today, but remains ready to activate if necessary.” On Twitter, outraged progressives wondered what was going on. Why wasn’t anyone trying to stop Trump’s coup? Where were all the protests?
The answer to that last question is quite simple: Biden pulled ahead in the polling, in the dead of the night, thanks to millions of mail-in ballots that had been collected by the “army” of election workers funded by Mark Zuckerberg and the other members of the cabal. No protest is necessary when your side wins. Their protest wasn’t about election integrity; it was about the result.
Rove laments that if Democrats had done what they planned to do had they lost the election, Republicans would have “criticized them mercilessly.”
Republicans would have torched any high official who encouraged violence or stood mute while it was waged and been right to do so. Republicans would have demanded an investigation to find who was responsible for the violence and been right to do so.
Republicans may have demanded many things had that happened, but would anything have come from their demands? Republicans have demanded an investigation into the Russian collusion hoax. We are more than a year into that investigation, the criminals have been identified, a clear line has been drawn between the hoaxers and the Clinton campaign…and nothing has come of it. One low-level Clinton associate has been indicted. Republicans have demanded an investigation into Hunter Biden and the deals he made while his father served as Vice President. Where is the FBI on that investigation? Can we get an update?
Republicans have demanded an investigation into the riots that broke out nearly every day in the summer of 2020. Has anyone been held accountable? Republicans have demanded an investigation into January 6th as well; namely, they want to know what Nancy Pelosi knew and when she knew it. Why didn’t she prepare for the inevitable? Who made the decision not to call in the National Guard? How involved were our intelligence agencies in the planning and execution of that riot?
These are questions that will never be answered because the Deep State is so deep that no one can ever penetrate it. Rove wags his finger at Republican “apologists” who say that “those who stormed the Capitol were innocent patriots, tourists visiting the seat of the national government to petition their elected representatives peacefully.” Who, exactly, are these apologists? I have not heard anyone make such claims.
I have, however, heard that the vast majority of people who protested that day were ordinary Americans and not members of any organized group with any planned intention to take over the Capitol or disrupt the day’s proceedings. I heard this from the FBI, which investigated the matter.
I have heard that these protesters were almost entirely unarmed and almost entirely nonviolent. I know this because I looked at the court records, which show that less than 15% of the charges filed relate to violent acts. The vast majority of charges (nearly 70%) are misdemeanors. If there was such violence and bloodshed on that day, then why are only 362 of the 2,799 charges (filed as of November 3rd) related to “police interactions?”
Rove has created a strawman argument because the facts simply don’t support his narrative. The vast majority of people who attended the January 6th rally were, in fact, nonviolent. The vast majority of the people who attended the rally did not attempt to gain access to the Capitol building. The vast majority who did were nonviolent. While the media hyper-focuses on the small handful of people who were violent, it is difficult not to notice the footage of middle-aged men and women wandering the halls of the building, taking photos, and carefully respecting the roped-off areas.
Leftists and their media allies will continue to keep January 6th in the news as long, and as often, as they possibly can. They will continue to lie about a “deadly coup” because it fits their narrative. It also distracts us from the real coup that was attempted for four years under Trump, and will undoubtedly take place again if he decides to run in 2024.
