President Asterisk is lying to the American people yet again. When a person looks straight into our eyes and repeats the same blatant lies that he has told before – lies that have been debunked and “fact-checked” countless times already – what does that say about that person? Is Angry Joe a compulsive liar? Is he so demented that he has lost all touch with reality and doesn’t even realize he is lying? The fact that he was reading off of a teleprompter tells us that these lies are deliberately being repeated by someone on his staff. For what purpose? When everyone knows it’s a lie, who on earth is convinced by it?
In case you missed it (and who could blame you if you did?), Joe Biden and his loathsome VP paid a visit to Atlanta, Georgia on Monday. Presumably, the purpose of this visit was to promote “voting rights.” After Biden’s signature $3 trillion “Build Back Better” boondoggle crashed and burned in the Senate, Team Biden began scrambling to save face. To that end, they have decided to break up the BBB bill into smaller, more digestible, pieces. The biggest piece Democrats would like to salvage would be a federal takeover of all state elections, which would make mass mail-in voting a permanent feature in every election, thus ensuring that the party can continue to rig every election from now through eternity.
Of course, the Democrats can’t truthfully explain why they want to toss all election integrity and legitimacy out the window, so they are forced to lie about it. The fact that they call this effort “voting rights” is, in itself, a lie. There is not a single person in America who cannot vote if he or she is eligible to vote. In fact, the act of voting has never been easier or more convenient. In most states, and in most circumstances, a person does not even need to leave the couch in order to vote.
Biden clumsily tried to tie his “voting rights” legislation with the Civil Rights movement of the 1960’s and to the January 6th riot at the Capitol. It seems like such an obvious point to make, but I’ll make it anyway: neither of those events has anything to do with the election laws in Georgia – or anywhere else for that matter. That didn’t stop him from making those attempts, anyway:
That’s why we’re here today to stand against the forces in America that value power over principle, forces that attempted a coup – a coup against the legally-expressed will of the American people – by sowing doubt, inventing charges of fraud, and seeking to steal the 2020 election from the people.
I have covered this topic several times already here on this page, but just to reiterate: it was the Democratic Party that stole the 2020 election – not the disorganized, mostly nonviolent, entirely unarmed, mob that breached the Capitol building on 1/6. The problem with the 2020 election was that it was not entirely “legally-expressed.” There was a great deal of illegal activity involved in that election – which is why we need election reform laws like the ones in Georgia.
You know, for the right to vote and to have that vote counted is democracy’s threshold liberty. Without it, nothing is possible, but with it, anything is possible.
Again, no one in the state of Georgia who is eligible to vote is denied the right to vote. The term “strawman argument” is almost too weak to describe this ridiculous statement. It is so blatantly and obviously dishonest, I can’t help but wonder who actually believes it.
One person who evidently believes it (or, at least, wants us to believe he believes it) is a Democratic pollster by the name of Cornell Belcher, who appeared on Chuck Todd’s Meet the Press on Sunday. “It is not that easy to vote in America,” Belcher claimed, “if you happen to look like me and you’re in Georgia, standing in line for six or seven hours to vote. It’s not easy to vote in America if you happen to look like me.” (In case you’re wondering, Belcher is black.)
That is the rhetoric. Here are the facts. A study conducted by Stanford University in 2020 found that the average wait time in Georgia (during the Democratic primary) was 51 minutes in polling places where the population was 90% or more nonwhite, and only six minutes in polling places that were 90% white. Take race out of the equation, and what you would discover is that in densely-populated cities, the wait time is much longer than it is in rural areas. Is this any surprise to anyone anywhere in the world? Whenever there are more people anywhere, the wait times for everything are usually longer. What does any of that have to do with race?
Georgia’s new election laws make it easier than ever to vote by mail, so why stand in line “for hours” when it isn’t necessary? One new law allows voters eleven weeks – nearly three months! – to request a mail-in ballot. A new law expands early voting, which includes weekend in-person voting. If you want to avoid those long lines, simply vote on a different day. Another law requires large polling places with long lines to take action if wait times surpass an hour. Such polling places would be required to hire more staff, add more workers, and/or split up the precinct after the election.
Biden simply lied about Georgia’s voting laws.
For example, voting by mail is a safe and convenient way to get more people to vote, so they’re making it harder for you to vote by mail.
Mail-in voting is “safe” and convenient. It is also the easiest way to commit fraud, as Jimmy Carter warned us way back in 2005. Biden (or whoever wrote his speech) knows this, of course. Which is exactly why Democrats want to expand mail-in voting as far as it can stretch.
When the Bible teaches us to feed the hungry and give water to the thirsty, the new Georgia law actually makes it illegal – think of this – I mean, it’s 2020, and now ’22, going into that election – it makes it illegal to bring your neighbors, your fellow voters food or water while they wait in line to vote. What in the hell – heck are we talking about?
First of all, it is frightening that the leader of the free world doesn’t know what year it is. Secondly, this myth about the water has been busted so many times, it is exhausting to hear it again. No one standing in line to vote is going to die from dehydration. People can bring their own water. Poll workers can give them water. The only people who can’t give them water – or anything else, for that matter – are campaign workers. For obvious reasons. It is illegal to buy someone’s vote using water, food, or any other free gift. Even then, according to the new Georgia law, a campaign worker actually could give free water to a voter as long as it’s done outside of 150 feet from the polling place.
Remember what the defeated former president said to the highest-ranking election official – a Republican – in this state? He said, quote, “I just want to find 11,780 votes.”
Again, this is a blatant lie. Like most lies reported by the media, this one originated in the Washington Post, and (like most lies during the Trump administration) was sourced from “anonymous inside sources.” When the audio from that phone conversation was released to the public, it was found that Trump said no such thing to the election investigator. The Washington Post was forced to issue a retraction of their story. Is Biden somehow unaware of that? Or is he merely lying for the sake of lying?
Biden then did what Democrats always do: he played the race card.
Jim Crow 2.0 is about two insidious things: voter suppression and election subversion. It’s no longer about who gets to vote; it’s about making it harder to vote. It’s about who gets to count the vote and whether your vote counts at all. It’s not hyperbole; this is a fact.
No, Joe, it’s hyperbole. Expanding voting access and making it easier to vote is nothing like segregation. You should know, Joe, since you hung out with so many Segregationists in your younger days. The irony of a lifelong Democrat lecturing anyone about the Jim Crow laws that his party created and enforced is not lost on anyone.
Toward the end of his rambling speech, in between bouts of spasmatic shouting for no apparent reason, Joe repeated yet another lie that he has told many times throughout his life:
I did not walk in the shoes of generations of students who walked these grounds, but I walked other grounds. Because I’m so damn old, I was there as well. You think I’m kidding, man. It seems like yesterday the first time I got arrested. Anyway.
Joe always says “anyway” when he realizes he has rambled off into Dementia Land. Needless to say, Joe was never arrested for anything related to the Civil Rights movement. It is not the first time he has told this particular lie. In early 2020, Biden claimed that he was once arrested in South Africa after meeting with Nelson Mandela. This lie was so blatant that even the Lefty “fact-checker” at the Washington Post was forced to give him “four Pinocchios” for that whopper. Snopes and Factcheck.org also issued a “pants on fire” rating to that one.
Let’s not forget that the guy who is pandering to this audience in Atlanta by claiming to be a defender of Civil Rights spent the majority of his early days in politics hanging out with racist Dixiecrats. Biden famously gave the eulogy at the funeral of the KKK’s “Exalted Cyclops,” Robert Byrd. He praised the work of Democrat senators James Eastland and Herman Talmadge, both of whom vehemently opposed racial integration and civil right protections.
Biden brushes all of this aside by claiming it was necessary to pal around with racists because it was necessary to “get things done.” I wonder if the media would give any Republican the same benefit of the doubt they give to Biden.
I’m kidding. Of course they wouldn’t.
Mike -- your column popped up on a DuckDuckGo search I was doing for "Biden's election integrity speech." I was researching for my own blog -- Make Orwell Fiction Again -- at johannaneuman.substack.com. I was so impressed. Do you have special skills at beating the search engine algorithms? Please share.
